PURPOSE:To avoid defects due to brittleness to improve grinding efficiency and prevent a grinding surface from flaws or the like by arranging a plurality of adjacent small CBN grinding wheel pieces through a bond at intervals of slidably contacting always a workpiece to form the grinding surface. CONSTITUTION:A CBN grinding wheel is formed of pentagonal small pieces 50, and respective small pieces 50 themselves and the small pieces and one side surface 1A of a bed metal 1 are fixed to each other through a bond 6 so that the surfaces 50A of small piece 50 are flush with each other throughout the whole surface of grinding wheel 3. Further, the respective sides of pentagonal small piece 50 are provided so that the directions r, r' of slidably contacting a workpiece are opposed to the rotational direction A of grinding wheel T from the orthogonal direction, and the small pieces 50 are not disposed on the outer peripheral edge 32 of grinding wheel surface 3 and an escape portion 7 is formed only of the bond 6. Thus, even if a portion of workpiece is protruded, the surface thereof is not damaged and the wide grinding wheel surface can be formed of a small amount of CBN to improve the grinding effect. |
