The alarm unit, pref. of the acoustic type, is inaccessible from outside, and has attached to it a mechanism which in a functional condition retains the life-saving board firmly in relation to the housing whilst the alarm is inactive. If the board is removed from the housing, the mechanism moves to a second functional condition in which it activates the alarm. The housing is fitted at the top of a stationary frame which at its bottom has a box or holder in which one end of the life-saving board is inserted. The mechanism comprises a suitable rod-shaped component projecting from the housing, which is activated by a spring. Its free end has a cross piece on it which in a certain rotary angle position can be pushed through a rectangular hole in the board. The cross piece, after turning through 90 deg.C., is pressed against the board, locking it through the effect of the spring. The alarm comprises an aerosol-driven signal horn fitted on a tube contg. the aerosol medium and provided with an operating button. The tube is fitted on a bottom plate of the housing. |
