PURPOSE:To exterminate vermin of three preventing the crawling of vermin toward the tip of the tree, by winding a trunk with a substrate surface-treated to inhibit the passage of vermin and killing the vermin of the part between the wound part and the tip of the tree. CONSTITUTION:One or both sides of a flexible tape or sheet of a plastic film, paper, nonwoven cloth, foam, etc., are treated with a substance to inhibit the passage of vermin (especially preferably a pressure-sensitive adhesive composition such as acrylic polymer or natural rubber) by coating, lamination, exudation, impregnation, etc. The treated substrate is wound round the surface of the trunk of a tree and the part of the tree above the wound part is subjected to insecticidal treatment. The crawling of vermin along the trunk is inhibited and the vermin at the tip part of the tree is exterminated by this process to enable the control of vermin over a long period. The controlling effect against vermin can be continued even after losing the activity of the insecticide applied to the tip part of the tree because the tree is treated to inhibit the passage of vermin.
