PURPOSE:To reduce the cost of an electronic still camera and to improve its responsiveness by providing a device which moves an infrared-ray cut filter from the optical path of a solid-state image pickup element which provides both photography and range finding operation for automatic focusing at the time of range finding operation, and a memory which operates it. CONSTITUTION:This camera is provided with the device 4 which moves the infrared-ray cut filter 1 from the optical path of the solid-state image pickup element 9 performing both photography and range finding operation for automatic focusing at the time of the range finding operation and the member 7 which operates the device 4. Then the infrared-ray cut filter 1 on the optical path of the solid-state image pickup element 9 is replaced with a filter for correction which does not cut infrared rays only at the time of the range finding operation, and consequently this solid-state image pickup element 9 is usable as a range finding element even at the time of active type AF. Consequently, the cost is reduced and the responsiveness is speeded up.
