PURPOSE:To stabilize and ensure the input of a face image and to improve a collation rate by reflecting a face and inputting the face image by a half mirror into the inputting part of the face image. CONSTITUTION:The optical image signal of a face 2 is inputted by a half mirror 1 and inputted to a photoelectric converting part 4 through an optical system 3. The optical image signal inputted in the photoelectric converting part 4 is temporarily stored in an image memory 8 after being converted into an electric signal and digitized by an A/D converter 7 through an amplifier 6. By this constitution, since the face image can be inputted after deciding a suitable position and deciding the input position of the face while the face reflected in the half mirror is watched, at the time of collating it with a registered face image pattern previously stored in a registered face image dictionary part 9, an input can be ensured by selecting the same positions as the time of the resistration, and a collation rate is improved.
