The field of the invention is that of refrigerating installations intended to equip motor vehicles. The objective is to provide such an installation which, on the one hand, makes it possible to avoid the drawbacks connected with the use of a compressor and of a freon circuit, and which satisfactorily provides the operation of an absorption refrigeration circuit. This objective is achieved with the aid of a refrigeration installation particularly characterised in that it uses an absorption refrigeration circuit the boiler 6 of which is associated with a heat supply circuit 4 connected thermally to the combustion engine 1 and/or to the peripheral hot parts 2, the said supply circuit 4 comprising a heat storage module including a material having a high latent heat of change of state at a temperature close to the operating temperature of the said boiler 6. <IMAGE>
