PURPOSE:To facilitate to monitor a working condition by collecting and recording the trouble occurrence information of a system constituting device and updating the connection information of each device. CONSTITUTION:The connection information of the system constitution is recorded beforehand in a file part 13 of a system monitoring device 1. A central processing unit 2 controls and operates a peripheral control unit 3-i and a peripheral unit 4-i according to the connection constitution information from the device 1. A trouble information occurred in the unit 4-i during operation is inputted to a channel control part 11 of the device 1 through the unit 2, and is stored in the file part 13 by the control of a central control part 14. The connection constitution information stored beforehand is updated by this trouble information, and the monitoring of the working condition of a computer system and the updating of the connection constitution information can be facilitated.
