PURPOSE:To always keep belt side pressure and to freely control a transmission gear ratio in all ranges by connecting a movable conical plate and a slide valve in such a manner as to slide in a body. CONSTITUTION:A hollow cylinder bore 14 is bored in the shaft core portion of a shaft where a variable pulley comprising a fixed conical plate 1 and a movable conical plate 2 is set up. A hollow cylindrical slide valve 16 is inserted in the cylinder bore 14. The slide valve 16 has a port 11 always communicating with a servo oil pressure chamber 6 of the movable conical plate 2 on the inner surface thereof, and the slide valve is connected to the movable conical plate 2 to slide in a body with the movable conical plate 2. A pilot valve 17 having a groove portion 18 communicating with a working hydraulic power source and a groove portion 20 communicating with a drainage path in stored in a hollow portion of the hollow cylindrical slide valve 16. Signal oil pressure chambers 26, 27 for energizing the pilot valve 17 are provided on both end portions of the pilot valve 17 or on one end portion thereof.
