PURPOSE:To efficiently use a line and to shorten the used time by increasing or decreasing the length of transmission blocks which are sent at a time. CONSTITUTION:A transmission data address 20, a transmission success frequency counter 22 which counts the number of times of success of sent data block transmission, a resending frequency counter 23 which counts the number of times of resending at the time of a failure in the transmission of a sent block, a transmitted document area 28 where document data on a document to be sent are stored, etc., are provided on an area in a RAM. Consequently, how many times data transmission blocks are sent successfully is counted during data communication and at every time the number of times of the transmission success of data sent blocks reaches a specific value, the length of transmitted blocks which are sent at a time is increased, but when a transmission error occurs, the length of transmission blocks is decreased to perform the data communication efficiently.
