PURPOSE:To enable efficient production of large amount of young seedlings having an uniform size, by obtained young seedlings of Japanese horseradish from tissues passing through embryonic bodies. CONSTITUTION:Young seedlings of Japanese horseradish are obtained from plant tissues passing through embryonic bodies. Furthermore, plant tissues of the Japanese horseradish are preferably cultivated in a cultivation tissue induction culture medium to generate hairy root tissues, which are then cultivated in an embryonic body induction culture medium and induced to embryonic bodies. The resultant embryonic bodies are subsequently cultivated in a redifferentiation culture medium to provide the aimed young seedlings. A culture medium containing one or more of auxin, cytokinin and casein hydrolyzate added thereto is used to generate the hairy roots at 13-17 deg.C temperature while irradiating the culture medium with light; however, a culture medium containing the auxin and cytokinin is used to generate the hairy in the dark. In this case, the amount of the auxin is larger than that of the cytokinin.
