METHOD FOR FIBER IDENTIFICATION OF OPTICAL FIBER COMMUNICATION LINE

PURPOSE:To simply discriminate the presence or absence of signal light in an optical fiber and its direction by arranging at least two photodetectors to be independently driven at least in two directions symmetrical about the intermediate point of a bend part of an optical fiber. CONSTITUTION:A monitoring jig 3 has the photodetectors 4a, 4b arranged oppositely to a bending jig 2 and a space surrounded by these photodetectors 4a, 4b and the bend part of the fiber 1 is filled with a refractive index matching agent 5. The two photodetectors 4a, 4b consisting of the same kind of devices and constituted so as to be independently driven are arranged on the symmetrical positions about the intermediate points of the uniform bend part of the fiber 1. Consequently, the presence or absence of signal light in the optical fiber and its direction can be discriminated.
