PURPOSE:To prolong the life of a cathode and stabilize the characteristics by incorporating indiume in a crystal lattice of alkali earth metal oxides, which is to be coated on the metal base with Ni as main component, and thereby lowering the service temperature. CONSTITUTION:Electron beam 14 from an electron gun 13 using cathode K scans over a fluorescent screen 12 formed at the inner surface of panel part of a tubing 11 of any electron tube, for ex. a cathode-ray tube. The end of a cathode sleeve 3 of this cathode K is covered with a cap-shaped metal base 1 incl. several % of W, for ex., of a reducer with Ni, as main body. Alkali earth metal oxide layer 2 is coated on the top surface of the base 1, and indiume is incorporated in a crystal lattice of this alkali earth metal oxides. A heater H is installed in the sleeve 3 of the cathode K to heat the cathode K to specified temp. Thus the service temp. is sunk to increase the life of cathode. Also the characteristics can be stabilized. |
