PURPOSE:To prevent penetration of molten metal to a gap between side dams and wear of the side dam and occurrence of irregular rotation of rolls by detecting relative inclination at both end parts of the rolls during twin roll continuous casting operation and adjusting the gap by shifting the roll in case the inclination of the rolls exceeds the prescribed value. CONSTITUTION:The gap between the fixed roll 10 and the movable roll 11 is adjusted by working an oil hydraulic cylinders 13a, 13b through servo valves 24a, 24b with command of a roll gap control device 17. By this adjustment, the rotating rolls 10, 11 continuously produces a cast slab having the prescribed thickness. In case shell, etc., invades between the rolls, the roll gap control device 17 detects the pressure difference with a load cells 18a, 18b at both end parts of the rolls and also detects difference of the gaps with a position detectors 15a, 15b and the difference is approached to the thickness size. By equalizing these gaps at both end parts, the penetration of the molten metal and the solidification at the side dam 29 face are eliminated and quality of the product is made to good and wear of the side dam and end face of the roll is eliminated. |
