PURPOSE:To obviate generation of unequal densities, spilling of a developer, etc., so that development with high image quality can be executed by bringing a layer thickness control means into pressurized contact with the top of a developer carrier on the plane inclusive of the edge on the down stream side of the layer thickness control means with respect to the moving direction of the developer carrier thereby controlling the developer to a prescribed layer thickness. CONSTITUTION:The layer thickness control means 47 is brought into pressurized contact with the top of the developer carrier on the plane 47A inclusive of at least the edge on the down stream side of the layer thickness control means 47 with respect to the moving direction of the developer carrier 29, by which the developer is controlled to the prescribed layer thickness. Lines are, therefore, generated in the rotating direction and axial direction of the flocculated toner and the developer carrier 29 on the developer carrier and the layer thickness and electrostatic charge quantity of the developer on the developer carrier are uniformized. The generation of the unequal densities, the spilling of the developer, etc., is thereby obviated and the development with the high image quality is enabled. |
