PURPOSE:To reduce the area of the upper surface of a casing by setting the size of the upper surface of a liquid crystal display device at the value approximately equal to the size of the upper surface of the casing and setting a keyboard movably above the display device. CONSTITUTION:A liquid crystal display device 2 is set into a casing 1 and the size of the upper surface of the device 2 is set at the value approximately equal to the size of the upper surface of the casing 1. A keyboard 3 is set on the upper surface of the device 2 and also can move to the casing 1. Thus the upper surface of the casing 1 can be reduced by an amount equal to the upper surface of the keyboard 3. In such constitution, a compact word processor is obtained.
