摘要 PURPOSE:To prevent a tire from skidding by disposing a continuously variable transmission mechanism in a gear train which couples between a power turbine and a crankshaft during exhaust braking operation, and by controlling the continuously variable transmission mechanism in accordance with the gross weight and operating condition of a vehicle during exhaust brake operation. CONSTITUTION:A power turbine 12 for retrieving the energy of exhaust gas is disposed in an exhaust passage 4b downstream of a turbo-supercharger, and a fluid passage 25 is connected so as to bypass the power turbine 12. An output gear 16 in an epicyclic gear mechanism 19 is fixed to the output end 13a of the turbine shaft 13 of the power turbine 12, and a ring gear 18 in the epicyclic gear mechanism 19 is coupled to a gear train 57 (20, 24, 26 through 29) for transmitting rotation of a crankshaft 19 to the power turbine 12, through the intermediary of a fluid coupling 21. Further, a continuously variable transmission mechanism 95 in which an idler is disposed between a pair of friction wheels is disposed in the intermediate section of the gear train 57, and is controlled in accordance with the gross weight and operating condition of a vehicle.
