PURPOSE: A high efficiency high isolation coupler using a low loss thin film package and a fabrication method thereof are provided, which has little change of optical characteristics according to a temperature, and uses a filter with a cheap fabrication cost. CONSTITUTION: According to a high isolation WDM(Wavelength Division Multiplexing) coupler(4) used in an optical communication system, an ultra thin film filter(5) is located in a front or a rear stage of the coupler to reduce an error rate according to a high efficiency and noise. According to the fabrication method, the above filter is placed on a surface of an optical ferrule or an optical fiber while fabricating a package of the filter part of the rear stage. According to the method for fabricating a thin film of the filter part of the coupler, a polymer is deposited on a silicon substrate or a glass substrate, and then the filter is fabricated using a sputtering or an electron beam. Then, the initial substrate is removed and then the polymer thin film is removed.
