PURPOSE:To reduce the quantity of heat for heating reactive gas to be supplied to a fuel cell, first by allowing the gas to be heated by reactive gas discharged from the cell stack by means of a heat exchanger, and then by allowing the same to flow into the cell stack. CONSTITUTION:A hydrogen gas supplying manifold and a discharging manifold 2, 3 and an air supplying manifold and a discharging manifold 4, 5 are provided on the sides of a cell stack 1 of a fuel cell, and heat exchangers 6, 7 are provided within the manifolds 3, 5. Hydrogen gas heated by a heater is introduced through a supply pipe 10 into the heat exchanger 6 and then through a communicating pipe 11 into the manifold 2, and then it is supplied to the inside of the cell stack 1 and discharged through a discharge pipe 15 of the manifold 3. Air to be supplied is also allowed to take a similar course. Accordingly, heat exchangers 6, 7 provide heat exchanging between the discharged gases and the supplied gases and quantity of heat for heating the supplied gases can be saved, and thus a improvement of efficiency can be achieved. |
