PURPOSE:To cause the turbine of an air compressor to consume crankshaft energy and obtain an auxiliary brake without necessity of cooling and troublesome adjustment by connecting the turbine to the crankshaft of an internal combustion engine, and fitting a clutch to a connecting shaft. CONSTITUTION:The turbine 4 of an air compressor 3 as an auxiliary for a main brake is connected to the crankshaft 2 of an internal combustion engine 1 via a connecting shaft fitted with a clutch 6. Also, the output shaft 11 of an increasing gear 9 at the output shaft 7 of the crankshaft 2 is molded monolithically with the input shaft 10 of the turbine 4. On the other hand, the air compressor 3 is so constituted as to have an outlet 15 formed in the radial outward direction of an impeller 12 in a casing 11, and a throttle part 16 at the outlet 15. And whenever necessary, a switch 18 is turned ON, thereby operating the clutch 6 and causing the turbine 4 to drive the air compressor 3. According to the aforesaid system, braking power for the crankshaft 2 is generated and the internal combustion engine 1 is thereby decelerated.
