PURPOSE:To prevent data from being lost while shifting is stopped, by connecting a 2-input 1-output selector which selects either its own output or the output of the pre-stage shift register to each input of cascade-connected shift registers. CONSTITUTION:N pieces of selectors 2-1-2-n are respectively connected to the inputs of n pieces of shift registers 1-1-1-n. The input 3 of a circuit or the output of the pre-stage shift register is connected to one A of the two input terminals A and B of each selector and the output of the corresponding register is connected to the other input terminal B. An output A is taken out from the final-stage register 1-n. When such constitution is used, the input terminal A of each selector 2-1-2-n is selected at the time of shifting and the shift registers operate as one shift register as a whole. When shifting is stopped, the input terminal B of the selector input is selected and data circulate in the same shift register. Therefore, data can be prevented from being lost while shifting is stopped. |
