PURPOSE:To avoid a lowering in printing density or the generation of density irregularity and to prevent the damage of a heat generating element at an early stage due to the accumulation of heat, by arranging the hollow body communicating with an ink supply source in the vicinity of the end surface of a thermal head and supplying ink toward the inner surface of a recording medium from said hollow body. CONSTITUTION:Since a plurality of small holes 44 formed to hollow tubes 39, 40, the protective film 35 of a thermal head 4 and the ink supply grooves 38 formed to a substrate 37 are provided so as to correspond to each other, sufficient ink is supplied to the vicinity of a heat generating element 5 while a good printing condition is held. Therefore, even when an empty fine orifice 1 from which an ink droplet is emitted is yet arranged on the heat generating element 5 when a voltage pulse is again applied, the fine orifice 1 receives the supply of ink to be instantaneously filled with said ink and the ink droplet is again emitted from said fine orifice 1. Therefore, high printing density ad good sharpness are always held and no density irregularity is also generated and, since the sufficient ink is supplied to the vicinity of the heat generating element 5, the damage of the heat generating element 5 at an early stage due to the accumulation of heat is prevented. |
