PURPOSE:To contrive reduction both in loss of the refrigerant and in permanent current in a stationary state by a method wherein a regulating thermal type permanent current switch PCS is connected to a small type PCS in series, a plurality of them are series-connected, and the generation of irregularity in a shunt current is prevented. CONSTITUTION:When a superconducting magnet 1 is going to be excited, a PCS is turned OFF, in other words, small type PCS 51-5N are heated up by a heater and the like, a resistance-generated state is obtained, and a current is applied from a power source 2. When the current flowing to the superconducting magnet 1 reached the rated value, the PCS 4 is turned ON. Under this state, regulating PCS 61-6N is turned OFF, and the current output of the power source 2 is lowered gradually. At this time, a permanent current begins to flow to the small type PCS 51-5N and the regulating PCS 61-6N. Then, the current running to each small type PCS is determined by the resistance of the regulating PCS 61-6N in OFF state, said current can be branched off, the current changing rate in each small type PCS is brought to 1/N, the stability of the current is increased, and the PCS having the current capacity of N-times can be obtained. |
