PURPOSE:To permit the certain judgement by matching an engine and a start clutch by slip-controlling the start clutch when the engine revolution speed is less than a set revolution speed and by fastening the start clutch at the time point when the engine revolution speed becomes over a set revolution speed. CONSTITUTION:When control starts, a variety of signals such as the engine revolution speed Nin, following shaft revolution speed Nout, car speed V, and a throttle opening degree theta are input, and the engagement of a start clutch 20 is judged according to the equation ¦Nout-V¦/Nout<=epsilon (epsilon is a set value). If this equation is satisfied, the start clutch 20 is fastened. If Nin<Nin* (Nin* is a set revolution speed), the state for permitting the completion of start control is not yet generated, and the slip control for the start clutch 20 is permitted, and the start clutch 20 is slip-controlled.
