PURPOSE:To lessen the burden of workers by putting out signals of H (larger than tolerance of dimension), P (within tolerance) and L (smaller than tolerance of dimension) and also putting out defect signals only in case H or L is issued by the number of times preliminarily set. CONSTITUTION:The width of a tube processed vinyl chloride film running on a line of a tube processing machine 3 is scanned by a line sensor 5 and a signal for the width of the film is measured by a dimension measuring device 1. Signals H, P and L are put out every time of measuring basing on the results of judgement for whether the signals are within the range of the tolerance put in preliminarily by said dimension measuring device 1. It is not proper to utilize said three-stage output signals from the dimension measuring device 1 directly for judging good or bad because of the possible wrong measurement caused by jetting, wobbling or the like of a tube. Because of said possibility, H, P and L signals are put into a judging device 2 for judging good or not which considers jetting, wobbling or the like of the tube, and when it is not good, a defect sensing signal to actuate a warning light buzzer or the like is put out.
