Slide fastener sliders cannot fulfil decorative functions with their face side because, for technical reasons, space has to be kept free both on the upper plate and on an attachment located there for the free movement of the slider tag. The intention of the invention is not to query the reliability of the slider in a technical sense, but nevertheless to provide it with the possibility of bringing about decorative functions on the garment. For this purpose, a decorative plate is produced, which is separate from the slider body and, when it has been mounted, at least partially covers the face side of the slider body. In this case, the decorative plate is provided with an opening through which a connection member located on the ratchet support projects, while the point of action for the tag located at the free end of said connection member lies above the decorative plate after assembly.
