In the preparation of a concrete mixture from a binder, principally hydraulic cement, concrete aggregate and water, it is proposed first to prepare, from cement and water, a cement paste which, over a predetermined time, is intensively mixed and/or stored with stirring before it is processed together with the concrete aggregate to form the concrete mixture. By this means, the reactions of the hydraulic cement, for which the presence of water is required, namely the swelling of the cement grains and the gelling, are displaced backwards to the time before the actual concrete preparation. In this manner, it is possible to anticipate a substantial proportion of the reaction time of the cement paste, so that the fresh concrete in the formwork reaches the strength it requires to be stable or prestressable significantly faster. In particular in the production of precast components from reinforced concrete or prestressed concrete, a reduction of the process time of the formwork is thereby achieved and thus also a reduction of the amount of formwork to be held in reserve.
