In a locating process for localizing receiving antennae by means of electromagnetic signals in the near field region of a stationary transmitting device, a magnetic dipole antenna is used as the stationary transmitting device, by means of which dipole fields are produced in various axial directions. With the receiving device of unknown position and unknown orientation, the field strength (H) and field direction ( alpha ) with respect to the receiving system are determined for each transmitter position and a locus (k) of possible transmitter positions is plotted for each. The point of intersection of at least three loci (k), (k2), and (k3) yields a pair of two diametrically opposed transmitter positions (SA) and (SA') from which the relative co-ordinates of the receiver position (EA) with respect to the transmitter position are determined. |
