METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR PREVENTING ADHESION OF WATER ORGANISMS

PURPOSE:To prevent the adhesion of organisms to a structure under water for long periods by a method in which the surface of the structure under water is rubbed by artificial seaweeds and swirl flow of water is caused on the surface of the structure by movement of the artificial seaweeds. CONSTITUTION:Artificial seaweeds 5 are attached to the surface of an underwater structure 1. The seaweeds 5 are extended in the lengthwise direction and their many small tips become a broom form by water flow and their rocking movement. They are rocked in every direction with change of water flow to rub the surface of the structure 1. The adhesion of floating spats of underwater organisms to the surface of the structure 1 can be prevented, and the spats adhered can be rubbed down thereby. The device is of simple structure and cheap and can also be used for long period without causing any pollution owing to its no toxicity.
