PURPOSE:To obviate the need of input terminals used exclusively for initialization and to simplify construction and connection of circuits, by providing an initializing circuit which is connected according to requirements of a user, for initializing circuits to be initialized such as flip flops or the like. CONSTITUTION:A D-flip flop 10 of a CMOS master/slave type which additionally has a function of initialization is provided. The initializing circuit is previously designed and composed of resistances R1, R2, capacitors C1, C2 and an inverter 21. By connecting these components in various manners, high level initializing circuits 2H1-2H4 and low level initializing circuits 2L1-2L4 having different time constants are provided. A circuit to be used is selected from the circuits 2H1-2H4 and 2L1-2L4 according to requirements of a user. Thus, there is no need of providing input terminals used exclusively for initialization and, therefore, construction and connection of the circuits can be simplified.
