PURPOSE:To enable an optical recording medium to possess favorable weatherability and recording and reproduction characteristics with a wide recording power margin, by setting the titanium content of a recording layer in the vicinity of end parts with respect to the thickness direction thereof to be lower than that at a central part. CONSTITUTION:On a pregrooved polycarbonate resin disk substrate 1 which is 15 mm in inside diameter, 130 mm in outside diameter and 1.2 mm in thickness and has been annealed at 100 deg.C for 2 hr, a layer having a thickness of about 30 Angstrom and comprising tellurium and selenium in an atomic percent ratio of 80:20 is provided by sputtering using a tellurium-selenium target, and subsequently a layer having a thickness of about 180 Angstrom and comprising tellurium, selenium and titanium in an atomic percent ratio of 82:15:3 is provided thereon by sputtering using a tellurium-selenium-titanium target. Further, a layer having a thickness of about 30 Angstrom and comprising tellurium and selenium in an atomic percent ratio of 80:20 is provided thereon by sputtering using the tellurium- selenium target, thereby providing a recording layer 21. Thereafter, annealing is carried out at 95 deg.C for 1 hr to produce an optical recording medium. |
