The peripheral walls of the moulding box are movable inwardly and outwardly and to compress the foamed, expanded and cooled polystyrene foam of lowr density, the walls are moved moved inwardly over only a fraction of the full width. This produces a three-dimensional moulding which has at least two three-dimensional layers which have different properties. ADVANTAGE - Complicated shaped mouldings can be made which have impact absorbing elastic properties.
