PURPOSE:To obtain a halogen electric lamp having a long life and a getter effect until the end of its life by containing 1.3 wt.% of a metal with a getter effect in the filament wire of an incandescent filament and sealing halogen or its compound together with the inactive gas in a tubular bulb. CONSTITUTION:Halogen or its compound is sealed together with the inactive gas in a tubular bulb 1. A metal with a getter effect to adsorb oxygen such as tantalum is contained in the filament wire 2c of an incandescent filament 2. The content is set to the range of 1-3 wt.% against tungsten. If it is less than 1 wt.%, the getter effect is lowered, on the contrary if it exceeds 3 wt.%, the workability as wire is reduced, and an open circuit may possibly occur at the time of coiling. The getter effect can be thereby maintained reliably until the end of the life of an electric lamp.
