The flow drill is for the production, by heat and pressure, of a hole surrounded by a collar in metal sheet or metal tube walls. It comprises a shaft having a smooth tapering end based on a regular polygon and having a cross section defined by a continuous convex contour, situated within the circle circumscribing the polygon, and consisting of a complex harmonic curve obtained by a given formula. The formula incorporates the radius factor from the drill center radius vector in a starting point of the contour in one of the apexes of the polygon, the angle between these and the number of apexes of the polygon.
