PURPOSE:To use an electronic filing device as a copying machine with the operation similar to that of a usual copying machine by providing a copy control circuit controlling a scanner and a printer apart from the control by a registration and retrieval means. CONSTITUTION:When a copy machine mode command 1 is given from a keyboard A, an input control means C sends the command to a copying machine control circuit K. A command is given from the copying machine control circuit K to an image information storage means E to part a scanner F and a printer H from the control of the registration and retrieval means D. A printout instruction with respect to image information 4 of an original J read by the copy operation command 3 of a touch panel G on the scanner F is given from the circuit K to the image information storage means E to actuate the printer H for copying and s hard copy I is obtained.
