PURPOSE:To realize a high-speed and efficient integrated circuit by a method wherein, regarding a shape of a pattern of each constituent element constituting the integrated circuit, a width of each pattern is made uniform in a progression direction of a signal and in a direction perpendicular to the direction so that a wiring length between individual constituent elements and a whole area of the integrated circuit can be reduced. CONSTITUTION:For example, data input terminals D0-D2 are connected to input terminals B of adders 1a-1c; output terminals Q of D flip-flops 2a-2c are connected to input terminals A of the adders 1a-1c; individual output terminals SO of the adders 1a-1c are connected to individual input terminals D of the D flip-flops 2a-2c. When a pattern of these circuits is laid out on a semiconductor substrate as an integrated circuit, a width of all the adders and the D flip-flops is constituted to be equally arranged in each direction of an identical signal and in a direction perpendicular to the direction in individual positions of each signal. In the figure, a shape of the pattern of a cell for all the adders is shown by a1-a3; the shape of the pattern for the cell for the D flip-flops is shown by b1-b3.
