PURPOSE:To attain the maintenance by a CRT alone and to improve the reliability of the system by providing a CRT body with a data converting function in an intelligent CRT system including picture formats and having a picture drawing function. CONSTITUTION:A data memory part 1 stores receiving data from a host computer, an editing processing part 2 obtains a specified picture format corresponding to the picture number of data obtained from the memory part 1 from a picture format memory part 3, and a variable data format memory part 4 obtains the position and output coordinates of the data on the basis of the tag number of the received data. Then, data formats such a positive number, a real number and a decimal point are formed in a table 6 to be the contents of the memory part 4, an editing processing part 2 executes picture editing processing on the basis of the data formats, and displays the processed contents on a display part 5, and an off-line keyboard input picture forming part 7 maintains the picture by keyboard processing.
