PURPOSE:To wind optical fiber efficiently and to prevent the optical fiber from being cut by performing track control so that an optical fiber lead-out part is moved toward a holding plate and then returned to a specific winding track. CONSTITUTION:A robot 4 for fiber winding when moving across the optical fiber F extended among adjacent groups of winding rods 38a-42a, 39b, 41b, and 42b moves the optical fiber lead-out part B back temporarily away from holding plates 38-42 and then moves across the extended optical fiber F. Then the track control is so carried out that the optical fiber lead-out part B is moved forth toward the holding plates 38-42 and then returned to the specific winding track. Consequently, the winding operation is performed efficiently and defective production due to deviation in the winding of the optical fiber is eliminated; and the optical fiber F is prevented from being cut by the optical fiber led-out part B atop the hand of the winding robot 4 when wound.
