PURPOSE:To provide a diagnostic apparatus capable of correctly diagnosing oil-immersed electrical equipments, by providing the apparatus with an excessively heated position standardizing means for standardizing excessively heated positions if an abnormal pattern is caused by excessive heating and with an excessively heated area estimating means for estimating an area of the excessively heated region. CONSTITUTION:Gases contained in insulating oil 4 are extracted from the oil, and possible abnormal conditions in an oil-immersed transformer are diagnosed based on respective amounts of H2, CH4, C2H2, C2H4, C2H6, CO2 and CO among these gases. A diagnostic apparatus comprises a gas extracting device 10 provided on the side wall of a transformer tank 5 for, extracting the gases from the insulating oil, a gas detector 11 for detecting various gaseous components and a current sensor 12 for detecting loaded current. The apparatus further comprises a diagnostic section 13 having an abnormal pattern determining means connected to the gas detector 11 and the current sensor 12 for determining any abnormal pattern, an excessively heated position standardizing means for standardizing excessively heated positions if the abnormal condition is due to excessive heating and an excessively heated area estimating means for estimating an area of the excessively heated region. Consequently, accuracy of the diagnosis of oil-immersed electric equipment is improved.
