Method and installation for transferring transport platforms onto a lifting table of a stacking station at which plates are stacked onto the transport platform resting in each case horizontally on the lifting table. For the purpose of simple, rapid transfer, the respective, empty transport platform is arranged in front of the lifting table in a vertical basic position or a basic position inclined obliquely with respect to the vertical and moved, from this position, onto the lifting table located in the receiving position while being tilted into the horizontal position.
