The invention relates to a test device by means of which it is possible for the first time to determine the retaining forces in the case of battery-powered travelling crabs, diesel travelling crabs or the like directly on the rail web. It is also possible for such a device according to the invention to be used under just such identical operating conditions to measure the contact pressures transmitted onto the rail web of the running rail from the frictional wheels of automotive monorails and level railways.
