PURPOSE:To detect an accident such as fire, etc., quickly and to get ready for automatically fighting the fire, by providing a fire detector at the outlet of an outdoor air discharge pipe and by arranging a fire-fighting inert gas pipe to discharge inert gas in operating this fire detector. CONSTITUTION:When hydrogen gas is discharged in the periodical inspection of a rotating electric machine, in case fire breaks out due to the accident at the outlet of an air discharge pipe 9, the discharge part bursts into flames as if it were a gas burner. In this instance, as soon as the accident is detected by an optical fire detector 14 provided at the outlet of the discharge pipe 9, an automatic discharge stop valve 12 is closed by a control panel 15. Then, a carbon dioxide pouring valve 13 for fire-extinguishing is opened and inert gas is poured into the discharge pipe 9, into the outlet of which carbon dioxide gas for fire-extinguishing is injected to extinguish the fire. At this moment, an alarm is delivered to the operation control room of the rotating electric machine.
