PURPOSE:To obtain high-density functional ceramic of perovskite having readily sintering properties, by preparing raw material powder of modified zirconium oxide by coprecipitation method and subjecting the powder to mere dry method. CONSTITUTION:Perovskite ceramic shown by formula [A is metallic element (e.g. Pb or Ba) of 12 oxygen coordination); B<1> is bivalent metallic element (e.g. Mg or Ni) of 6 oxygen coordination; B<2> is tetravalent or pentavalent metallic element (e.g. one or more of Nb and Tb and Zr) of 6 oxygen coordination; x is in 0<x<=1] is formed by the following three processes. [first process] A mixed solution of partial amount of components of the component B<2> except Zr and a Zr solution is mixed with a coprecipitation forming solution, a coprecipitated material is formed, washed, dried and dried at 700-1,300 deg.C. [second process] The fired material of the first process is mixed with oxide consisting of <=0.3mum primary particles of the components B<1> and B<2> and a compound of the component A as the residual constituent components of perovskite compound and dried at 500-1,300 deg.C. [third process] The fired powder of the second process is molded and sintered at 700-1,700 deg.C.
