PURPOSE:To produce a powder of complex electroconductors having appropriate hiding power by coating an inorganic platelet substance with a specific amount of titanium oxide and forming a coating layer containing antimony and tin oxide thereon under specific conditions. CONSTITUTION:An inorganic platelet substance such as mica is brought into contact with an acidic aqueous solution of titanyl sulfate or titanium tetrachloride, heated at least over 60 deg.C to effect hydrolytic precipitation of a thin, adhesive and translucent layer of hydrated titanium dioxide of small particle sizes on the platelet substance. An aqueous suspension of the platelet substance is heated over 50 deg.C and a mixed solution containing 10-700g/l of tin chloride, 0.5-180g/l antimony chloride and hydrochloric acid in an amount adequate to prevent hydrolysis is added to the heated suspension. Thus, the coating layer consisting of 0.1-25wt.% of antimony and the rest amount of tin oxide is formed in 5-60% based on the total weight. The coated product is filtered, collected and burned to give a powder of electroconductor of high conductivity having good hiding power.
