PURPOSE:To obtain a liquid jet recording head excellent in high speed response, by moving a recording head in the direction reverse to a direction wherein a meniscus returns to a liquid emitting orifice after a liquid droplet is emitted and filling a liquid flow passage with a liquid by inertial effect. CONSTITUTION:When a liquid droplet emitting signal is given to an emitting energy generating means 5, foaming 12 is started in an adjacent liquid. As the foaming 12 further advances, a recording liquid 11 comes to protrude from an emitting orifice 3. A liquid droplet 13 is torn off from the protruding part of the recording liquid 11 to fly toward a recording sheet and the foaming 12 in a liquid flow passage fades away. The foaming 12 is perfectly eliminated and a meniscus 14 is largely retracted from the emitting orifice 3. At the point of time when the meniscus 14 is retracted, a signal is sent to a piezoelectric body 2 to allow a recording head 1 to move in the direction shown by an arrow 15. The meniscus 14 returns to the emitting orifice 3 by the inertial force due to the movement of the recording head 1. The time required in returning the retracted meniscus 14 to the liquid emitting orifice 3 can be certainly shortened. |
