PURPOSE:To realize the stable formation and flight of an ink droplet and to prevent the generation of a fine satellite droplet, by forming elastic wave absorbing layers on the substrate side in the periphery of a heat generator array and on the surface side brought into contact with recording ink of a nozzle plate. CONSTITUTION:A current pulse is applied from an electrode pad to heat the heat generator connected through electrodes 208 and the recording ink on the surface of the heat generator is evaporated to generate a steam bubble 216; further, an ink droplet 214 is injected in the direction vertical to the heat generator by the counteraction force generated by preserving the kinetic quantity when the steam bubble 216 is burst. By this method, recording is performed to a recording medium; in this case, an elastic wave 218 is absorbed by elastic wave absorbing layers 204, 205. That is, when the current pulse is applied to a heat generator array 210 through the electrodes 208 and the steam bubble 216 is generated on the heat generator, the elastic wave 218 with the disappearance of the steam bubble 216 is incident to the elastic wave absorbing layers 204, 205 to attenuate. |
