PURPOSE:To prevent such transfer of an ink to the surface of a paper as to disturb gradations, by disposing a second head roller so that the roller is opposed to the outer peripheral surface of a head roller which has been subjected to an operation for scraping off an ink supplied and adhered thereto, with a predetermined spacing between the rollers. CONSTITUTION:An ink 4a supplied and adhered to projected surfaces 1a of a head roller 1 through an inking roller 3 and an auxiliary roller 2 is scraped off by a blade 5 driven by an actuator 6 according to image information on a picture element basis, and the adhered ink 4a left on the projected surfaces 1a is transferred onto a projected surface 11a of a transfer roller 11 opposed to the head roller 1 with a minute spacing (t) therebetween. In this case, only ink films thicker than the spacing (t) are transferred, whereas thinner ink films are not transferred but are scraped off by the blade 9. Then, the ink is transferred onto a paper surface 7 by the second transfer roller 11. Thus, the ink which is left in a thin layer on the part of the roller 1 subjected to an ink- scraping operation and would disturb gradations can be prevented from being transferred onto the paper surface. |
