PURPOSE:To obtain an epoxy resin composition giving a cured material having improved flexibility, by modifying a phenolic resin with an epoxy-modified silicone and compounding the modified phenolic resin as a hardener. CONSTITUTION:The objective composition is produced by compounding an epoxy resin with a phenolic resin modified with an epoxy-modified silicone (preferably a polydimethylsiloxane wherein a part of methyl groups are substituted with glycidyl ether group) as a hardener. The amount of the modified phenolic resin is preferably 1-10wt.%. The molar reaction ratio of the phenolic resin to the epoxy-modified silicone resin is preferably 0.02-0.5 in terms of the ratio of the epoxy group to the hydroxyl group of the phenolic resin.
