Telephone set with a support trough (1) for the handset provided in the stationary housing part. In the peripheral area of the support trough (1), a filling body (7) is disposed which lies flush with the support trough (1) when the telephone set is used for desk-top operation, whereas a part of the filling body projects beyond the contours of the support trough (1) and engages in an indentation in the earpiece end of the handset when the telephone set is used for wall-mounted operation. The filling body (7) is intended to be disposed in the peripheral area of the support trough (1) in such a way that the subscriber can without a great deal of installation work switch the telephone set between two operating positions. For this purpose, the filling body (7) is movably guided in a receptacle (17) located inside the telephone set in the vicinity of the support trough (1) and is locked into place in two final positions. <IMAGE>
