Truing tool for grinding wheel of internal grinder - is mounted on outside surface of workpiece steady rest

An internal grinding machine (1) has a chuck (13) which grips one end of the hollow workpiece (16) whilst the other end of the workpiece is supported in the steady rest (11). The chuck (13) and steady rest (11) are both mounted on the worktable (6) which can be moved axially on the guide rails (7,8). The grinding wheel (27) is mounted on the headstock (21) which can move laterally on the guide rails (22,23). The grinding wheel truing tool (28a) is mounted on the outside surface of the steady rest (11). When it is required to true the grinding wheel (27) the work table (6) is moved axially clear of the grinding wheel. The headstock is moved laterally and the work table is then moved to bring the truing tool (28a) into contact with the grinding wheel. USE - Internal grinding machines.
