In order to ensure efficient brake cooling in a motor vehicle equipped with an internal combustion engine without adversely affecting the aerodynamic conditions in the front area of the vehicle whilst travelling, a closing flap (33) is assigned to a cooling air aperture (3) in the front area of the vehicle, which flap, in the event of a vacuum in the intake pipe (38) of the engine of the vehicle, is swivelled by means of an adjusting device (30) into its open position (33') which signals idling or overrun conditions of the internal combustion engine (Fig. 3). <IMAGE>
